Updating Java the Manual Way

Last night marked the last session of my 8th term teaching for the college.  Two years of teaching, a multitude of students have passed, and I still enjoy the work.  Primarily, I like the ability to guide students that are aiming for entry into my own career field, IT services.  Some have ended up working for corporations on their , others are still looking for work in the market.

All in all, I like the opportunity to be able to give them some real-world examples of the work.  As an IT consultant, I’ve learned that the business is different from working for an organization.  I try to tell them that sometimes the best solution is not the one that the customer wants or can afford.  As a consultant, I try to find that line for my customer, giving them the best solution that they can afford.

While Exchange and Office are great for some businesses, it may be out of reach financially.  Perhaps Google Apps would work as well for a fraction of the cost.

Symantec Endpoint Protection is a powerful tool, but it may be that the free Microsoft Security Essentials product is worth noting.
