First off, I’m going to say that… given the unbelievable number of posts concerning this issue, Microsoft should be shamed to the bottom of the ocean for having put out NO official statement or timeline for a fix. This is unreal. It’s preposterous and insulting for them to suggest that we comb through each and every one of these posts and try ALL of the fixes, and failing that, that we should “update our drivers” (has nothing to do with the problem and they know it), and failing that, that we should just “reinstall the OS” (WHICH DOESN’T FIX THE PROBLEM).
I’m working with some ASUS Transformer Book Chi T100 tablets in a domain environment. These are as follows:
I do a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit, activate it, upgrade to Windows 10 Pro 32-bit, and then perform a clean install of Windows 10 Pro 32-bit. I install all of the drivers, update the BIOS, install applications (Acrobat, Chrome, and Office), join the machine to our domain, install Symantec Endpoint Protection, and install the Oracle 11g R2 client. And every time, Windows will fetch all the updates it needs… until it gets to KB2264602, with the 0x80070643 error.
I have tried starting Windows Defender, and updating from within it.
I have tried starting the Windows Defender service from the Services MMC.
I have tried running the “sfc -scannow,” and found no corrupt files.
I have tried installing the .NET Framework from the Programs and Features.
I have run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
I have tried doing all of my above steps and NOT installing Symantec Endpoint Protection… I get the same errors.
This is an insane, widespread, unforgivable issue. Our client machines are insecure and getting bottlenecked on security updates and bug fixes because of this. Can we expect a fix for this? Soon?
